Couples Counseling

Let's Straighten It Out.

This therapy process includes both individual and joint sessions in order to ensure:

  • both parties are able to express themselves, their needs and beliefs safely and be heard

  • quality and consistency of treatment

  • couple is processing and developing as two whole individuals in order to come together and build a solid and healthy relationship

Roles in the relationship

Sometimes the roles in the relationship can be unequally assumed, distributed, or even understood in the first place. More often than not, this can lead to built-up tension, projection and unhappiness.

In couple counseling, we work to understand how both parties view different roles and why, as well as each other's needs and expectations and how these important factors affect the relationship overall.

Moving From Fighting Each Other as Opponents to Fighting Together as a Team

Understanding the influence of oppression and external stressors on the relationship can greatly impact the ways couples can improve their communication, learn to fight fair and love from a place of compassion, empathy and support.

What is it good for?

Beliefs and values meet shared goals and understanding

Oftentimes, the beliefs and values people have stem from their childhood and past experiences, and when they don't align within the relationship, miscommunication can happen. This can worsen if harm and trauma have also occurred in the relationship.

Together with a therapist, couples can work towards gaining a clear perspective into each others' beliefs and values and develop shared goals and a working plan to recover, heal and grow from past mistakes, harm, and lack of trust.

Friendly reminder: We're in this together.
